The fleet operated by WolfgangseeSchifffahrt has been sailing between the towns of St. Wolfgang, St. Gilgen and Strobl for over 147 years. Even today during the summer months, the iconic paddle steamer "Kaiser Franz Josef I." is cruising across the lake.
The “Österreich” is the biggest ship on Lake Wolfgangsee and part of the fleet since 1984. It is used for regularly scheduled ferry service and, as a charter vessel, especially suitable for big events.
The “Salzburg” is the youngest ship in the Wolfgangsee fleet, in active use since May 2008. With its modern design, elegant decor and onboard restaurant, it is used for ferry service as well as special events.
The “Salzkammergut” was launched on Lake Wolfgangsee in 1973 to mark the 100-year anniversary of WolfgangseeSchifffahrt ferries.
The “Wolfgang Amadeus” has been part of the WolfgangseeSchifffahrt fleet since 1995. It is the smallest of the modern ships.
It is practically impossible to imagine Lake Wolfgangsee without the “Kaiser”, as it is affectionately known by the locals, with its powerful paddle wheel. On its 135th birthday in 2008, it received a bit of a rejuvenation treatment. Its appearance was lovingly brought back into keeping with how it looked in 1908, with painstaking attention to every detail.
