Active experiences in nature: The lovingly maintained hiking trails around Lake Wolfgangsee invite you to unforgettable exploration tours.
The hiking trails around Lake Wolfgangsee are just as diverse as the landscape itself and offer the right thing for every taste. In addition to an idyllic hike, our recommendations also include leisurely return trips aboard the WolfgangseeSchifffahrt ferries. So you can end your excursion very relaxed - with beautiful views all along the way.
Enjoy this nice hike through meadows and forrest and lovely views across the lake.
From the church in St. Wolfgang, you will walk west along the road as far as the crossroads by the Dorfalm. Here, keep right and, after the Försterhof, make another right. A steep lane now leads out to the Aschinger café, but before you get there the “Rieder Steig” hiking path branches off to the left, taking you gently up- and downhill to the west, eventually meeting up with the Falkensteinweg (No. 28). If you keep left here, you will drop back down to Wolfgangsee, where you will continue keeping left and, before long, reach the “Ried-Falkenstein” boat landing. Now enjoy a pleasant ride on the ship back to St. Wolfgang.
Easy hike on wide paths, 200 m elevation change, refreshment opportunity at Gasthaus Fürberg as well as several eateries in Ried.
From the church in St. Gilgen, you will hike along Mondseer Straße close to the lakeshore as far as Brunnwinkel. From there, a very beautiful path takes you right next to the lake to Gasthaus Fürberg. Continue a little bit farther, until a wide-though-steep path leads you up to the former hermitage at the church on the Falkenstein . Now more flat, you will make your way past several chapels to the Falkensteinsattel, elev. 795 m. Here, a marked hiking trail branches off, taking you to two beautiful lookout points, the “Scheffelblick” and “Aberseeblick”. From the saddle, now downhill to the village of Ried and along the shore road to St. Wolfgang. From St. Wolfgang, a ferry operated by WolfgangseeSchifffahrt will take you on a leisurely cruise back to St. Gilgen.
